Junebug FAQs
-
Wait times vary depending on breeding plans, heat cycles, successful pregnancies, litter sizes, and the preferences of families already on our Stork List. Because puppies don’t arrive according to a schedule, we can’t promise an exact wait time.
Families who are flexible about color and gender will generally have more opportunities for a match. Our Planned Litters page always has the most current information about upcoming pairings.
-
We do not ship puppies as cargo.
Local families can arrange pickup with us in Central Alabama, and we’re happy to meet families flying in at Birmingham-Shuttlesworth International Airport (BHM). Meeting at other regional airports, including Huntsville, Atlanta, or Nashville, may be possible for an additional travel fee.
Flight nanny and white-glove delivery may also be available depending on destination and travel costs. We try to be flexible, so if you have another need, just ask.
-
Our breeding dogs undergo comprehensive health screening appropriate for Cavaliers, including DNA testing and examinations of the heart, eyes, patellas, and hips. We screen for known inherited conditions including Curly Coat/Dry Eye Syndrome (CCDE), Episodic Falling Syndrome (EFS), and Degenerative Myelopathy (DM), and use those results when making breeding decisions.
Our adults receive cardiac and eye examinations, patella evaluations, and hip X-rays submitted to the Orthopedic Foundation for Animals (OFA) at the appropriate ages. We pursue CHIC certification for our breeding adults and repeat testing as required to keep their health information current.
We believe health testing should be transparent. OFA results are linked from our dogs’ individual pages, and additional health and genetic documentation is available to our puppy families.
-
Each puppy goes home with a health certificate, our written health guarantee, a microchip, AKC registration, age-appropriate vaccinations and deworming, a starter bag of food, a scented blanket, and a lifetime of breeder support.
We’ll also provide the records and information you need to help make the transition from our home to yours as easy as possible.
-
To protect our puppies and adult dogs, in-person visits are considered on a case-by-case basis. We provide regular photo and video updates, and you’re always welcome to schedule a video visit.
Junebug is not a kennel—our Cavaliers are family pets who live in our home—so limiting outside traffic also protects the environment where our dogs live and our puppies are raised.
-
Yes. Every Junebug puppy goes home with a written health guarantee covering specific hereditary and congenital conditions as described in our adoption contract.
We encourage families to read the contract carefully and ask us questions. We want you to understand our commitments to you and your puppy—and yours to them—before you make a deposit.
-
If you aren’t matched with a puppy from the first available litter, you’ll remain on our Stork List for a future litter that fits your preferences.
We’ll keep you informed about upcoming breeding plans, confirmed pregnancies, and new litters so you know what opportunities are ahead.
-
We believe health information should be easy to verify, not simply taken on trust. OFA certifications and results are publicly available through the OFA database and are linked from our dogs’ individual pages. Health information is also available through Good Dog, and we provide our puppy families with relevant veterinary and genetic documentation.
-
You’ll always work directly with us.
We use Good Dog to handle applications, contracts, and secure payments and to keep important records together in one place. Good Dog also provides useful resources for puppy families, including training and insurance benefits and flexible payment options.
But the relationship is with Junebug. We handle our conversations, puppy matching, updates, Gotcha Day planning, and lifetime breeder support personally. You can contact us directly anytime.
-
From time to time, we may have an older puppy, juvenile, or adult Cavalier looking for the right home. When we do, available dogs will be listed on our website.
If you’re specifically interested in an older Cavalier rather than a young puppy, you’re also welcome to contact us and let us know.
